Village-Based Biochar Initiative

01

The African Carbon Alliance

We are dedicated to enhancing sustainable agricultural practices and environmental resilience in African communities through the introduction of village-based verified biochar kilns. This initiative aims to provide farmers with innovative, efficient, and community-centered solutions that not only boost productivity but also contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.

03

 Pyrolysis Process

The African Carbon Alliance will   create education programs on how organic waste is transformed into biochar through pyrolysis, a process that produces carbon-rich charcoal while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.

02

Innovation

The African Carbon Alliance will supply village-based verified biochar kilns that are strategically placed on accessible farms within local communities. These kilns will be regularly staffed and maintained by trained personnel to ensure optimal operation and safety

04

Biochar Application

Guidance on how biochar, when combined with Wellcrop’s microbes and organic products, works to retain moisture, balance soil pH, and restore essential nutrients, leading to proven yield increases, especially in tropical and subtropical climates.

05

Community impact

The African Carbon Alliance ensures that the kilns are located in secure, accessible areas with local security arrangements for ease of use by farmers and community members. This decentralized model empowers communities

07

Biochar production & training

Village-based biochar kilns, introduced through the African Carbon Alliance (ACA), help reduce emissions and sequester carbon in the soil. Biochar enhances crop yields, locks carbon in the ground, improves soil fertility, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers. ABSA Bank guarantees deposits, providing security for participating farmers. This initiative supports sustainable farming, boosts productivity, and contributes to the fight against climate change. Take advantage of this opportunity to improve your farm and promote a greener future for Zambia.

06

Biochar production & training

Ensuring the farmer earns the largest share of any carbon credits generated from biochar application and sales, creating additional income opportunities.
Offering continuous support and education to maximize productivity and the positive environmental impact of the biochar process.

08

Biochar production & training

Improved soil moisture retention and nutrient availability, leading to higher and more consistent crop yields.
Reduced input costs by relying on organic products and processes.
Increased income through verified carbon credits, offering financial stability and growth opportunities.
Enhanced soil health and resilience, contributing to sustainable farming and food security for future generations.
